For BTS fans visiting Korea, a car opens doors that tour buses cannot. The Jumunjin Beach bus stop from the Spring Day album is a 2.5-hour drive from Seoul. The old Big Hit building in Gangnam, HYBE headquarters in Yongsan, filming locations scattered across Gyeonggi Province. A rental car transforms a standard Seoul vacation into a comprehensive BTS pilgrimage covering sites in Seoul, Gangwon, and beyond.
Tour buses hit the obvious spots, but many BTS locations are scattered across the country. The Jumunjin bus stop alone requires a highway trip to Gangneung. Yongin Daejanggeum Park where Agust D filmed Daechwita sits 50km south of Seoul. A car lets you visit multiple sites in a single day, on your own schedule, with time to actually enjoy each location rather than rushing through.

The current home of BTS sits in Yongsan, Seoul's newly developed tech district. The HYBE building houses offices, recording studios, and previously hosted HYBE Insight, an immersive museum showcasing BTS memorabilia, iconic outfits, and behind-the-scenes content. While the museum has moved to traveling exhibitions, ARMYs still gather outside the building daily. Street parking is limited; use the nearby Yongsan Station parking structure.
Driving Tip
Yongsan area has heavy traffic. Visit early morning or on weekends. The building is viewable from the street, but security maintains boundaries. Respectful distance is appreciated by staff and other fans alike.
Before HYBE's corporate expansion, this modest building in Gangnam was where BTS spent their trainee and early debut years. The walls around the building are covered with messages from ARMYs in dozens of languages. The neighborhood has changed, but longtime fans recognize this as sacred ground. Located near Nonhyeon Station, street parking is difficult. Use a nearby public lot.
In 2020, BTS performed at Gyeongbokgung for The Tonight Show's BTS Week, performing IDOL in hanbok-inspired outfits at Geunjeongjeon Hall and Mikrokosmos at Gyeonghoeru Pavilion. The performance introduced millions of viewers to Korea's most iconic palace. Visiting the exact filming spots requires palace admission (₩3,000). Open 9 AM to 6 PM, closed Tuesdays. Parking available at the palace lot, but the subway (Gyeongbokgung Station, Line 3) is more convenient.

This traditional neighborhood of 600-year-old hanok houses has appeared in BTS content multiple times. The narrow alleyways and traditional architecture create a distinct atmosphere. Visit early morning (before 10 AM) to avoid crowds and get photos without tour groups. Parking is extremely limited in the area. Park at Anguk Station public parking and walk 10 minutes uphill.
BTS filmed their Dear Class of 2020 graduation speech at the National Museum of Korea, selected for its architectural significance and cultural importance. The museum is free to enter and houses 310,000 artifacts spanning Korean history. Large parking lot on site, free for first 2 hours. The museum grounds are also pleasant for walking, with traditional gardens and water features.

This unassuming restaurant in Nonhyeon-dong fed BTS through their trainee years. The members have spoken about eating here almost daily during their pre-debut practice sessions. The restaurant serves traditional Korean home cooking. Expect a wait if you visit during meal times. Menu in Korean only, but pointing works. Budget ₩8,000-12,000 per person. Street parking available on side streets.
The most iconic BTS photo location requires leaving Seoul. The 2.5-hour drive to Gangneung takes you along the scenic Yeongdong Expressway, through mountains, and to the East Sea coast. This day trip combines the famous bus stop with other coastal attractions.

This is the pilgrimage site. The bus stop from the You Never Walk Alone album cover was recreated by Gangneung city as a permanent installation at Hyangho Beach. The original was a temporary set, but fan demand led to this permanent tribute. Speakers play BTS songs. A sign shows the album cover for photo comparison. The beach itself is beautiful for walking. Parking lot directly adjacent, free of charge. Visit at sunrise for the best photos and fewest crowds.
Best Photo Time
Golden hour (1 hour before sunset) provides the most similar lighting to the album photos. The bus stop faces the ocean, so sunrise also works well. Midday sun creates harsh shadows.
Depart Seoul via Yeongdong Expressway (Route 50). The drive takes about 2.5 hours without stops. Consider stopping at Hoengseong Rest Area (famous for Korean beef) about halfway. After visiting the bus stop, explore Jumunjin Port for fresh seafood lunch. The return drive can include Gyeongpo Beach or Gangneung's famous coffee street. Total day trip: 6-8 hours with leisure time.
Agust D's Daechwita music video was filmed at this massive historical drama set. The park contains reconstructions of palaces, villages, and fortresses from various Korean historical periods. Recognize the throne room, market streets, and fortress walls from the MV. Admission ₩15,000 for adults. Allow 3-4 hours for thorough exploration. Large parking lot on site. Located about 1 hour south of Seoul.
This abandoned train station featured in the Spring Day music video where V waits alone on the snowy platform. The station is in Iryeong-myeon, about 2 hours north of Seoul. The station is preserved but not maintained as an official tourist site. Visit during daylight hours only. Parking available on adjacent streets.

International Driving Permit (IDP) required for all foreign drivers. Must be obtained in your home country before arrival. Valid driver's license from home country. Minimum age 21 at most rental companies, 25 for some vehicle classes. Credit card for deposit (₩300,000-500,000 hold typical).
Naver Map or KakaoMap are essential. Google Maps has limited functionality in Korea. Both apps work in English and provide real-time traffic, parking information, and accurate arrival times. Download offline maps for areas with weak signal (some mountain roads). Set destinations by copying Korean addresses directly into the app.
Day 1: Seoul locations (HYBE, old Big Hit building, Gyeongbokgung, Bukchon, National Museum, dinner at Yoojung Sikdang). Day 2: Gangwon road trip (Jumunjin bus stop, Gyeongpo Beach, Gangneung coffee street). Day 3: Gyeonggi locations (Daejanggeum Park, Iryeong Station) or continue exploring Seoul. This itinerary covers all major BTS sites with reasonable driving distances.
A BTS road trip through Korea connects the dots of BTS's journey from trainees to global superstars. These aren't theme park attractions but real places with real significance. The old practice building where they spent sleepless nights. The restaurant that fed them when money was tight. The filming locations that became visual signatures of their artistry. Driving between these sites, you experience Korea the way BTS did, through its highways, rest stops, and hidden corners. For ARMYs, there's no more meaningful way to explore the country.
