Eligibility
Eligibility
Foreign and domestic drivers, IDP convention countries, additional drivers, required documents.
Foreign vs. domestic drivers
Korean transportation law requires different document sets depending on whether you hold a Korean license.
Foreign driver
- · Age 21+ with at least 1 year of driving experience.
- · International Driving Permit (IDP) issued in your home country.
- · Original home-country driver's license (the IDP alone is not enough).
- · Passport for identity verification at pickup.
Domestic driver
- · Age 21+ with at least 1 year of driving experience.
- · Valid Korean driver's license — no IDP needed.
- · Government-issued photo ID for verification.
Korean license holders
A valid Korean driver's license alone is sufficient — no IDP required, even if your passport is foreign. You'll be treated as a domestic renter at the counter.
IDP convention countries
Korea recognizes International Driving Permits issued under the 1949 Geneva or 1968 Vienna conventions.

Korea recognizes only IDPs issued under the 1949 Geneva or 1968 Vienna Convention (paper-form only; U.S. nationals: AAA-issued only). Drivers from non-convention countries — including those listed — cannot legally drive in Korea even with an IDP, and must instead exchange for or obtain a Korean license.
Special cases
Hong Kong and Macau (Geneva Convention) and Taiwan (mutual recognition with Korea) are accepted even though Mainland China is not. Vietnam is conditional — confirm before arrival.
Additional drivers
Additional drivers are free. Each one must present their own IDP, home-country license, and passport at pickup. Add them during the booking details step or at the counter.
Required documents at pickup
Bring originals — not photocopies or photos. Counter staff legally must verify the original IDP and home-country license before handing over the keys.
No exceptions at the counter
If you arrive without an IDP, we cannot rent to you regardless of nationality or other documents. Obtain the IDP in your home country before you fly.
